MID-TERM REPORTS OUT TODAY FOR MY CORE!!!

MY CORE (133) HAS THEIR MID-TERM REPORTS AND ALL OTHER ORANGE TEAM CLASSES WILL RECEIVE THEIR MID-TERM REPORTS NEXT WEEK.

MANY STUDENTS HAVE HANDED IN LATE WORK; HOWEVER, IT HAS NOT BEEN MARKED YET!  I HAVE BEEN MARKING FINAL ASSESSMENTS FOR SS AND SCIENCE AND PREPARING FOR NEW UNITS THAT BEGAN THIS PAST WEEK.  DEADLINES ARE IMPORTANT IF STUDENTS WANT TO REVEIVE IMMEDIATE FEEDBACK!!!  FOR THOSE STUDENTS WHO HAND WORK IN ON-TIME, THE FEEDBACK THAT I PROVIDE IS IMMEDIATE.  THOSE ASSIGNMENTS THAT ARE LATE... WELL... STUDENTS WILL HAVE TO WAIT A LITTLE LONGER.

I WILL INTRODUCE "OPENERS" NEXT WEEK

SOCIAL STUDIES 8 - ROMAN ASSESSMENT (TEST) RE-WRITE IS MONDAY, NOVEMBER 4TH.  PARENTS... HAVE YOU SEEN AND SIGNED YOUR STUDENT'S TEST YET.  WHAT IS THEIR PLAN TO RE-WRITE?  CONTACT ME IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS.

  1. Hey Mr.Smith! I was one of your past students and may I say that you do not seem to be keeping up with your blog. Tsk tsk sir. You expect students to "provide themselves with greater opportunities to be successful in the classroom" but if you don't update, you're denying them that opportunity. May I also say that the one-binder is a useless waste of time that doesn't work past middle school due to the high school having a dual campus. I've found that most Gr.9's do not use the one-binder system as it gets too difficult to manage, even if they're the ones not traveling. I'd suggest letting the kids do what works for them and not what you think will work for them. Another thing, do recommend your students for Avid. Avid is only useful for kids who work well with the one-binder system, who can change their note formats (cornell notes) and who can get along with kids from all ranges (i.e druggys, jocks, geeks, etc). They'll be stuck with them for 3 years unless they want to drop out which is over two inches of paperwork and a speech in front of the school board. It is not worth it to drop out. Anyway, it's sad to see you haven't changed.

    With regards
    Emily
